Divulgation and Dynamization

Astronomy is the study of the sky, the physics of cosmic objects, and the understanding of celestial phenomena. Its main objective is the investigation of the universe in which we live and thanks to its multidisciplinary nature we can enter into other fields of knowledge such as biology and geology.

In no other scientific area is there such a large and collaborative community of hobbyists as in astronomy. It awakens creativity and allows us to connect with something that goes beyond what we can understand.

At AsterArk we work on our social commitment by developing and offering different activities with the aim of bringing astronomy closer to all ages and levels of knowledge. Our experience in this area focuses on holding events and conferences organized together with public administrations, educational centers and other groups.

By using entertainment-base tools for the dynamics, we also achieve a positive response and an increased interest in scientific knowledge, thus promoting learning.

Look at the stars and not at your feet. Try to understand what it is that you see and ask yourself what it is that makes the universe exist. Be curious

Solar Cycle

To enjoy astronomy we don’t have to wait for the night. Our Sun, the brightest and closest star to our Planet, gives us the opportunity to study it in great detail.

To observe it safely, we have solar telescopes specifically designed to see its flares and spots.

It is a splendid opportunity to get understand better our star, which can be perfectly combined with other activities and/or workshops that we carry out.

StarParty

A StarParty is one of the most fun ways to organize an activity around the enjoyment of the night sky. It is a meeting of people who share their common passion for Astronomy in all its variants, from contemplating the celestial vault with their eyes to exchanging positions on current news and curiosities related to this discipline.

It can be organized in urban areas where we can minimize light pollution by turning off the direct lights, but it is preferable to do it in those locations where the light from the cities does not interfere directly.

This activity is suitable to all ages and levels of knowledge thanks to its dynamic nature that invites interaction among attendees. To create a more participatory atmosphere, participants can optionally and according to the organization parameters of the event, be invite to bring their telescope.

For those who have not enjoyed a night observation, seeing objects in our Solar System, such as the Moon or Saturn, becomes an unforgettable experience when observed through a telescope.

It is recommended to combine this activity with previous talks and workshops that can be adapted to the expected profile of the attendees.

The Cosmos in your hands

We are special, thanks to our curiosity we can study the Universe in which we live. Traveling through it is very difficult and its immense size is difficult for our minds to understand. Through the various workshops we carry out, it becomes easier to understand concepts that are difficult to assimilate in a theoretical way, promoting creativity.

Let us travel through the limits of space and time, from our Solar System to the ends of the Universe. Let’s experiment with light, let’s build sundials, let’s learn to recognize the night sky using applications, let’s understand the effects produced by impacts between celestial objects and let’s play with all the possibilities that Science offers us.

These workshops are aimed at the youngest but also invite the whole family to participate. Our monitors will personalize the content to the characteristics of the group and are the perfect complement for a solar and/or night observation.

Special events

During our lives the sky offers us astronomical events with which we can recreate: eclipses, meteor showers, planet occultations, comet visits, etc. Also throughout the year different events such as Woman in Science Day (February 11), Starlight Night (April 20), Astronomy Day (May 15), Asteroid Day (June 30), the arrival of man to the Moon (July 21), among others. Moments that invite us to carry out activities where we can delve into the subject by conducting talks, observations with telescopes, exhibitions and workshops.

All our outreach services are available anywhere in the Canary Islands. Do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions about them, want to organize one or simply want us to be part of an activity that is not described in this section and you think that our experience can help to materialize it.
